Robust Economies – Austrailia

1. What are your objectives in this game?
In an effort to assist with the Kyoto Protocol, Australia is willing to contribute to the concerns of China and all nations as it is clear that we all face significant environmental and economic impacts from climate change across a wide range of sectors, including water security, agriculture, coastal communities, and infrastructure.

My objective is to have Australia assist in sharing information relative to this endeavor utilizing its resources on climate change as decisions made today about infrastructure, health, water management, agriculture, biodiversity and housing will have

Audiences throughout the world are increasingly exposed to climate related stories predominantly negative and inadequately solution oriented. Helping governments, industry, and the public to make sense of it all and take informed actions is a communications and advocacy challenge and an opportunity that Australia can and must embrace.

3. What are your chances of success?
As a result of Australia’s bipartisan political support for its international commitment to reduce emissions from 2000 levels by 2020, but very little bipartisan agreement as to how to achieve these reductions, I feel that the chance of success is slim at 50% at best. It is difficult to predict how to properly foster a bipartisan take on climate change since many different parties support separate issues involving interconnected resources and groups.

It is possible that Australia can assist in the climate change effort with the assistance of all nations along with global awareness grass root strategies success could be

Section 8 of The Impossible Will Take a Little While diverged in its discussion. As opposed to discussing victory and triumph in the face of adversity, it discussed how peace and strength can still be found in the absence of the fuel typically required by hope: success. In “The Elm Dance, Joanna Macy describes how the people of Novozybkov come to peace, despite the damages of the Chernobyl disaster, through simply discussing their pain. Directly afterwards, David Roberts discusses the importance of moving forward in the fight against climate change, regardless of how irreversible or impossible the fight may increasingly seem.…

Joseph F. C. DiMento and Pamela Doughman’s introduction to “Making Climate Change Understandable” presents an argument for climate change that denies frequent deliberate intervention with the climate by the human population but rather supports the accidental change in climate. The authors also claim that because climate change is so difficult to understand, people do not recognize it as a grave issue. Early in the text, DiMento and Doughman clearly state the purpose of the article as follows, to “explore changes in climate…address how the changes affect us…and explain what is being done to manage the changes” (DiMento 1). Although, they seem to struggle refuting arguments made by their opponents and use vague words throughout the text, the authors utilize evidence, argumentation and writing tactics to ultimately communicate their ideas.…

Before the flood is a captivating documentary about the hard times the are ahead for the earths population. It was evidently a documentary that was focusing on the negative effects that global warming is having on our world and what it could become in less than a decade. Aside from the overwhelmingly negative effects to our way of life and the environment if we do not make a global effort to fight climate change, there are significant risks to the Australian economy if we do not take steps towards pricing carbon. Almost 25% of worldwide investment in renewable energy last year was a total total of $50 billion or $1 trillion around the world. “We cannot afford to have leaders in office who do not believe in the modern science of climate change,” said DiCaprio in the interview.…

Foreign policy is an action plan formulated by a nation to foster its relationship with other nations, to achieve mutual and national objectives. This will be effective in combating climate change because it is a global issue. Climate change is not an affair that is exclusive to Canada. As a result, its efforts should not be exclusive to Canada. From 1990 to 2011, Canada has only contributed to two percent of the world 's total cumulative greenhouse gas emissions (Ge, Friedrich & Damassa, 2014).…

Frontline’s Climate of Doubt was a compelling film showing how climate change has become more of a political issue than an environmental one. The film followed correspondent John Hockenberry around the United States as he interviewed several individuals that included scientific specialist, conservative republicans and liberal democrats who may or may not have been holding a position in office at that point in time. He asked simplistic questions surrounding the issue of climate change that could have been answered by anyone who was able to comprehend their own beliefs, however some individuals refused to answer the question directly and the pattern seen behind their response seemed to be associated with their political choices. It was clear to see that throughout the film there was a trend occurring. Republicans refuse to believe that human-made climate change is an issue and the real question is why they believe such lies.…

Imagine a barren wasteland, incapable of supporting the growth of any form of life and overpopulated with more people than it could sustain: this is the future of the earth. But, this is not just another scene from a sci-fi film of a population that has expedited their vital resources, but the reality for the “over 7 billion people” who populate the home we call earth (Hardaway 4). A considerable amount of blame is placed on global warming which is an “increase in the temperature of the lower atmosphere“; however, global warming has not garnered enough acceptance from some political officials and skeptics due to the term’s ambiguity (“global warming”). Global warming is often confused with climate change and although these terms sound alike…
