The first development was advance military force. “Firearms were produced in Europe and had reached the interior of both Africa and North America before the Industrial Revolution” (Osterhammel, Globalization: a short history, 2005, p. 66). Before the advance military force, the world used Muskets to defend and attack personals. These rifles were extremely expensive to produce, therefor not many of them were used. Before the revolution, people would only have a horse and wagon to be able to transport anything. “The 1830s brought a breakthrough for the steamships, which had first proved its utility in inland and coastal waters” (Osterhammel, Globalization: a short history, 2005, p. 67). Many people saw this as an opportunity to travel on a regular basis. The use of this steamship cut the transportation time dramatically. They did not have to use their own horse.
