She needs her appearance to be pure so she will not associate with anyone who is not as popular as she. An egg is smooth and a plain color on the outside. Most eggs have little flaws on them. When Glinda meets Elphaba her life changes, and her shell is cracked like an egg. She lets herself make mistakes like the messy part on the inside of they egg. In William Golding's Novel, Lord of the Flies he uses many things to communicate a greater purpose to simple things. Specifically William Golding uses the beast and Piggy’s glasses to express the destruction of society that takes place on the island. Specific Analysis: As Dedé is the only one of the four sisters still alive, she feels responsible for making sure that they are remembered correctly as opposed to being glorified. Symbolism in Lord of the Flies In the allegorical novel Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses symbolism to explore the issues of civility and savagery. Throughout the novel, Golding connects symbolic items with the main characters, Ralph, Piggy, Simon, and Jack, to show how they change and become less civilized. This change is a major theme throughout the novel; it shows how the natural state of human beings is savagery. The novel also shows how objects can keep people grounded in their beliefs, albeit for a short time.…

The novel The Lord Of The Flies by William Golding contains many forms of symbolism that help develop the storyline. In the beginning of the novel the little items that seem to be irrelevant end up majorly contributing to the story and having a great deal of significance. These components also show how the story wouldn 't have the same meaning or importance without their presence. The vestiges of civilization such as the conch, Piggy’s glasses, and their clothing are some of the most important items due to the fact that they develop and strengthen the storyline. When Ralph had the most power it was the time that he had possession of the conch, but when the conch was demolished Ralph was found with no power.…

Fairy Tales are an important means used to teach life’s basic truths to children. These stories contain deep moral beliefs that sculpt basic understanding of right and wrong for society. Throughout time they have been adapted to a more child friendly form, even so that the film industry now bases child-oriented movies on classic fairy tales. Fairy tales, such as Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid”, appeal to a sense of romance, adventure, and the fight between good and evil. Society supports retelling the fairy tales because they support traditional moral values society desires its children to learn.…
