Glenwood Park Drive Traffic Survey conducted by Blacktown City Council on behalf of Michelle Rowland MP for Greenway of the Lower House of the Federal Parliament

A distressed resident of Glenwood has urgently asked Michelle Rowland (MP for Greenway) to urgently request Blacktown City Council to conduct a survey on the including a monitoring system to detect the speed and frequency of motor vehicles proceeding along Glenwood Park Drive focussing on the time slot of 7am until 9.30am.
This resident reported that the traffic had increased dramatically in the past few years primarily due to the new Ponds housing district and surrounding areas as a majority of them work near the city. …show more content…
This survey indicated that the 85th higher percentile speed is 56.5 km/h, which is 6.5 km/h over the speed limit. This shows that most people are over the speed limit when driving on Glenwood Park Drive, which increased the risk of accidents. Comparing similar survey undertaken in 2012 indicated a total increase of daily traffic on the section of Glenwood Park Drive between Sorrento Drive and Tarwin Avenue is approximately 13% in two years.
Between 2010 and 2013, there have been 5 recorded accidents of the roads of the North section of Glenwood.
An average of 20% of traffic is originated from through traffic. It also revealed that the intersections with capacity issues were the Miami St / Old Windsor Road (A2) and the Greenhill Dr / Norwest Boulevard - Westlink (M7) intersection.
Blacktown City Council recommend that:
NSW Police to enforce speed limits on Glenwood Park Drive, Glenwood,
Council investigate provision of additional roundabouts at suitable locations on Glenwood Park Drive and Meurants Lane in Glenwood.
RMS improves the traffic traffic signals operation at the intersections of Old Windsor Road with Miami Street and Norwest Boulevard / Westlink (M7) with Greenhill …show more content…

Norwest Boulevard provides a critical east / west connection linking between Blacktown, Seven Hills, Bella Vista and Castle Hill. Norwest Boulevard is a four lane divided road that links Windsor Road at Baulkham Hills and the M7 Motorway at Glenwood. Greenhill Drive is a local road connecting residential areas. Old Windsor Road is a main road linking North West Sydney with Parramatta.
The NSW Government is funding this $820,000 proposal on Norwest Boulevard as part of its $246 million Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, reduce queuing and waiting times for westbound and eastbound vehicles, improve road safety on Norwest Boulevard and increase efficiency and safety at the intersections of Old Windsor Road and Greenhill Drive. Also, the project improve travel times on Sydney’s major roads, particularly during weekday peak periods.
This project includes extending the right turn bay on Norwest Boulevard into Greenhill Drive, extending the right turn bay on Norwest Boulevard onto Old Windsor Road, removing part of the existing concrete median on Norwest Boulevard, installing new kerb, concrete, asphalt and line
