Have you ever put your full trust in a friend, only for them to let you down? Were you ever able to have faith them again? In one of their definition essays, “Trust”, Glenn and Castle wrote, “One of the most important aspects of trust is to be able to place confidence in another person. Often this comes down to being able to tell someone a secret of some kind and knowing that they won’t reveal it to another soul.” Of all the things you might ask for from a relationship, trust can perhaps be the most vital. In Peter Keen’s article, “The Concept of Trust”, he wrote, “Trust determines the space for future interactions between parties. Distrust closes down possibilities, trust opens them up.” Getting let down by someone you relied on can make you feel betrayed, and sometimes it can make it hard for you to trust again. DISTRUST is the feeling that someone or something cannot be relied on. In Roy J. Lewicki and Edward C. Tomlinson’s article, “Distrust”, they talk about how it feels not to trust someone and how destructive it is on a person. From their article; “Distrust is the confident expectation that another individual's motives, intentions, and behaviors are sinister and harmful to one's own interests. In interdependent relationships, this often entails a sense of fear and anticipation of discomfort or danger.
