Glee Music Club Analysis

When I was in grade 10, I auditioned and was chosen to be a member of Glee - a musical club at my school. Sadly, the club disbanded a few months later without any official activities after the founder received her certificate. All my intentions of singing and performing collapsed. At that moment, my friends and I decided to have our own club “FLY”, to fulfill our passion. With only one million VND self-contribution, we faced with financial difficulties when the money ran out after a month. Moreover, FLY received negative comments at first about our performances. Many people complained that our skills were not good and we performed with our instinct. Therefore, we attempted to strengthen our skills by learning from the Internet, Youtube how to breathe properly, how to sing well, how to dance. …show more content…
Every break - time, twenty people gathered at the school backyard to sing and dance for a whole semester. In any event, members went to every class to promote for our club and we had successfully held two mini-concerts. Sometimes, I nearly gave up because no one supported us. Thus, after all, we have been side by side for a year. Time has passed so quickly, the club was getting bigger and got more recognition. From ten members at first, the club now has sixty-three members and a lot of weekly activities. Thanks to “FLY”, I got to know like-minded people. They became my best friend and made my high school life become more meaningful. Music is my passion and “FLY” is my second family. I never regret for choosing not to give up. I am proud of myself, Long Phan of “FLY", a person never stops following his

The Thundertones as a Social Network The Thundertones have been a central part of my social network during my time at Wheaton College. Thundertones is an a cappella group that pulls its members exclusively from the Wheaton College Men’s Glee Club. Being an elite section of a larger group gives the Thundertones an interesting social network in side of the Men’s Glee Club; however, due to the limitations of this project I have chosen to focus primarily on the social network of the Thundertones itself. I have spent a lot of time with the Thundertones, both inside and outside of rehearsals.…

We practiced for an hour, put on the uniforms, piled into the buses, and unloaded at a high school foreign to me. The sun sank into the horizon as we sat in the stands and watched the other high school perform. At second quarter we did our own show, and it went flawlessly. But the thrill of marching band still didn't kick in to me. We made our way back to the stands, and the drum major held up a sign saying, "Land of a Thousand Dances."…

I am honored to be considered a possible future member of our high school’s National Honors Society. I do my best to commit myself to becoming someone extraordinary. Back in middle school, I was a satisfied member of the National Junior Honors Society, and I would like to feel the same about NHS. I remember knowing how to be a leader with great character, being proud of my citizenship, and serving the community. I still have these qualities today, and, as a member of NHS, I could definitely improve each of these qualities.…

So, Sarah and I decided that in our sophomore year, we would join at least two clubs. We joined the Club for the Integration of the Arts together. It is a club that runs our school’s coffeehouses, as well as the yearly opening of the school’s literary magazine. It was a good first club to join – great people, and really fun activities, but nothing that required work…

At the end of sixth grade, the junior high band came to my elementary school and performed for us. I watched in awe as students, not that much older than me, played music with their instruments. The flute players in the front row especially caught my attention; they were right next to the band directors and held their instruments up to the side, rather than down in front of them like the others. The flute had a high pitched melody and a bright silver color that appealed to me. That day, I signed up for the beginner band on the Coppinville Junior High registration sheet.…

Every Fall in the state of Iowa, thousands of music students spend several months preparing to audition for the All-State music festival. As a senior I wanted to walk into the audition room knowing that I could give the best performance I was capable of and hopefully make it into All-State. The summer before my senior year, I put aside my shyness and started taking voice lessons. My voice teacher told me at every lesson to come back better than today. In the following weeks through summer and early fall, I immersed myself with the audition music, it played constantly in my car and I would leave class early to get in an extra practice during the day.…

I joined the Chorus and the Vocal Ensemble at the high school and continued to try and better myself as a musician. My music department also offered me other musical opportunities such as festivals. I have attended several festivals such as the Lakes Region music festival and the All New England music festival. These festivals allowed me to come together with other students from different schools that loved singing and performing as much as I did. Every time I perform at one of these festivals I am overwhelmed by how beautiful music can be when everyone I am working with is just as passionate as I am about the work we are doing and also extremely talented.…

“All Star” by Smash Mouth is encouraging song about choosing to be spectacular at what you do. The tone of the song is quite casual, written in first person and as if it was a conversation between the listener and the singer. It starts off with the singer admitting that “somebody once told me that the world is going to roll me”, and that he “ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed”. Clearly he doesn’t think that he amounts to much in the long run when it comes to following the rules and book smarts. This is furthered by him going to say that “it didn’t make sense not to live for fun, your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb”.…
