Glass Bubble Research Paper

As you ask for a glass of water, you have no hesitation to drink it. The water is guaranteed to be clean. When you hear of a recent outbreak of disease, you breathe calmly. Disease prevention is easily accessible. The United States, within its glass bubble, consists of sanitary water accommodations and medical assistance, which is available for most citizens. Additionally, the United States is consistently looking for more ways to improve. One may ask, what is outside of the glass bubble? Outside of the glass bubble are third-world countries such as Africa, where people die from drinking infected water or from disease outbreaks. Outside of the glass bubble are human beings, sick from treatable diseases, who need help. Help that I plan to provide. Malaria, a disease carried by infected mosquitos, cause the death of one African child every thirty seconds. This disease has taken a large toll on third-world countries, but is hardly seen within our glass bubble. One of the opportunities would incorporate studying abroad in a country such as Africa, and volunteering to provide care to those in need. Studying abroad would develop a great understanding of the overlooked medical crisis taking place in third-world countries. By creating bonds with the African people, and also extending my knowledge of proper sanitation, I would hope to make a difference. Biology is the study of life, which pertains to microorganisms that could be creating health issues. The studying of these microorganisms can lead to learning how to prevent disease from spreading. Studying abroad would create an opportunity to help, educate, and connect with the African people and show compassion for the lack of medical attention they
