Waking up in the morning I wasn’t sure what time it was, and on top of that, the others were still asleep. Smoothing out my skirt and gently pulling my dress down underneath so it was smooth, I quietly stepped out of the trailer. Seeing the sun just barely rising, I walked over to the chairs and sat down.
It was a few minutes later, when Gladiolus came out. The look on his face showed he was surprised to see me up before any of them.
“My body just woke up on its own.” I explained to him.
“Makes sense.” He replied back.
He gestured for me to follow him, we went out to the open field to where we had a bit more room. And not only that, but we were still close to the gas station and trailer. Turning to face me, Gladiolus said that we’ll just start with the basics to

“Go ahead and summon your sword.” He said.
Nodding my head, I hold out my hand. Remembering what Gladiolus told me yesterday, I focused on my weapon. Seeing a bright light starting to form in front of me, I focused hard on my sword. When my sword appeared I took a hold of it.
“After a while it’ll get easier for you to summon your sword.”

“Using a sword, the way you stand, move and hold your weapon is vital and determines how much control you have.” He explained.
“Moving too fast and you’ll tire out too soon, and someone will come up and kill you.”
He told me to stand with my feet shoulder width apart, and keep my leading foot slightly forward. He said that my leading foot would be the same as my hand that holds my sword. Moving my right foot slightly forward, he nodded his head. He told me that I need to relax and that I was too tense, I felt like if I tried to relax that I would drop my

Dawn broke to an explosion of bird songs, the cacophony starting Booker awake with a disgruntled groan. Unimpressed by the early morning alarm clock, he angrily pulled his pillow over his head and attempted to drown out the noise. However, the humorous fact that the sound easily penetrated through the downy feathers brought a good-natured smile to his lips, and with a resigned sigh, he threw the pillow onto the floor and sat up. From across the room, Tom yawned loudly, a sleepy smile spreading across his face.…

Born in 1777 in Hanover County, Virginia, I was exposed to American history since I was young. In 1797, I moved to Kentucky along with many others wanting to pursue careers in law and politics. My political career began in 1803 when I was elected to the Kentucky General Assembly then appointed to the U.S. Senate in 1806. I was Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams.…

About the time we were feeling our saddle sores from dealing with a particularly rough and narrow segment of the trail, our troop became stretched out more than usual. I recognized it, and debated whether to call for a rest stop or let things go because of my plan to confront the wayward Raiders. By peeking at my PDA, I could see we’d made reasonable progress. For now, I felt happy. I made my decision and clipped my tablet back on my belt, while the trail switched back on itself, opening up a much wider and pleasant stretch of trail.…

All of the lancers looked unsettled by the news. One of returning scouts said, “They could rollover us like a rolling pin over a clump of dough.” The Count turned around, leaned over and touched both hands against the carriage, not wanting anyone to see the indecision on his face. There was no doubt in my mind he would ask me what to do, so I mentally sketched out our options, what we had to do to assist the defenders now the battle was really developing.…

THE NONES OF SEPTEMBER had arrived, and so began the fortnight of games known to all citizens as the Ludi Romani. The four factions of Alexandria gathered at the Lageum amidst the massing throngs that swarmed in the hippodrome, all intent on a day spent in revelry and of racing, all intent on seeing Rubio of the Reds continue his winning ways. The placards and advertisements had heralded the Germani lad as the circus favorite, him reputedly having the finest quadriga of Libyans ever yoked and traced. They were well- publicized by the promoters and betting-house bookkeepers; Tuscus, Tigris, Victor and Raptore were almost household names before they ever set one foot on the racetrack.…

I tried to slash Barrett a few more times, and each try was unsuccessful. The main gaps in his armor were well covered up, and Barrett didn’t give me a chance to look for and exploit the minor ones. I was once again dodging a hammer swing, this one aimed at my jaw, when I felt a blinding pain on my side. I immediately backed off to give myself some time to recover.…
