Losing family and friends and even their own lifes against their will. To be a slave is to be the lowest position on the social structure, and the least enjoyable. Perhaps the only moment of enjoyment in a man's time spent as a gladiator was at the time of victory, where the crowd is cheering for you and you recieve some gifts. There are very few pros to being a gladiator and uncountable cons. So why would humans ever wish this upon others? The answer is that humans are cruel creatures. We take pleasure in seeing others fail, even down to a simple funny youtube video of someone falling on their face. There's something about the destruction of another that provides our species with a sense of pleasure. This sense of pleasure derived from the gladiatorial events is what killed them and made then such a popular thing that they spread far and wide across Rome’s empire and lasted for thousands of years. If it were not illegal and deducted as morally wrong in our current society humans would most likely still be entertained and want to go see at least one gladiatorial event to experience it. While watching some would probably be genuinely disgusted, while other would be enraptured by the show and sport of it. Humans are wildly diverse. A current day gladiatorial event would be quite an impressive event. The stadium would be sold out in a matter of minutes if one was to occur. This then begs the question, If humans enjoyed it so much, why did the events end? This fact is not entirely known. As no person alive was not there at time the gladiatorial events ended there is no true way to be sure that all the information on why the events ended is known to mankind
