Girls Should Be Allowed In Schools

Improved Essays
I’m so over girls getting bashed for the same exact things that guys do but they get props for it. Girls are so discriminated against for the things they wear, how they act, if they curse, and for every little thing we do we get scolded. I’m not a feminist or anything like that, I’m just speaking against a problems I see everyday. For instance how many times do you see a guy get in trouble for what they wear besides the acausal curse word or inappropriate logos on their shirts. I used to get harassed in middle school for wearing ripped jeans and tank tops but I would see a guy wearing a basketball jersey and ripped jeans and they wouldn’t even get bothered. Girls are scared to wear certain things to school because if it shows your shoulder it’s inappropriate. Sorry I didn’t know my shoulder is the new thing that gets guys off. I run track and last year I asked the girls on the team “how come guys are allowed to be shirtless but were not allowed to wear sports bras”. One of the Seniors explained to me that five years ago we were allowed to but one day a senior cross country runner was running through the neighborhood or on the side of the road and a parent saw called the school and complained because the girl who was wearing the sport bra had “big boobs” so it was too inappropriate. Now we can’t wear sports bras but guys can still be shirtless and even the ones you don’t want to see shirtless. I think that’s very unfair because in the spring it is soo hot but we have to wear shirts in like 100 degree weather while guys can be comfortable without a shirt on. If we …show more content…
What I believe is that whether you’re a male or a female we all deserve to be treated equally. And this problem isn’t happening in just United States it’s happening all over the word. No one has really caught up to this day and age concept where everyone is getting equal

Those who were in charge at her school told her that the dress code was enforced so strictly for girls because certain clothing that girls wear can be “distracting” to young boys. Maggie Sunseri created a film the previous summer called, Shame: A Documentary on School Dress Code, where she interviewed a number of her classmates and also their principal. Many petitions are being signed by students that address the issue of sexism within the area of school dress code. One reason that this article was particular interesting was because it also addressed the way in which policies unfairly restrict transgender students.…

My AP Literature teacher, Mr. Mercer, once asked my class a serious question: why do women apologize so much? A thoughtful pause followed while the class, females especially, pondered the answer. My teacher elaborated with a short anecdote about a female student from a previous class: Mr. Mercer was standing in front of the doorway before class, speaking with another student. The female student approached the doorway so Mr. Mercer and the student courteously moved out of the way. The female student nodded and uttered a quick “sorry” as she hustled past them.…

Alexis De Tocqueville once said “Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude”. Equality is able to be achievable no matter what your race or religious belief is, even though some say that you can’t receive them. Equality is able to be achieved no matter what. For example, Martin Luther King Jr wanted equal rights for all African-Americans however other people believed that equality for African-Americans wasn’t achievable but in the end, he was able to achieve equality.…

“A riot is the language of the unheard”. This powerful statement was said by the late Martin Luther King Jr., and with the amount of inequality that has been seen in all areas of life (gender, racial, etc.) paired with the lack of response, it is easy to see how upping one’s protesting tactics to a level of aggressiveness can be beneficial for a movement. However, when one tends to perform nonviolent acts of noncooperation, and gather the attention of many for their movement peacefully, they tend to generate more support: therefore, it is increasingly favorable for a movement to exercise diplomacy rather than aggression. To start things off, equality is a characteristic that should be woven throughout every aspect of our lives without question.…

The idea of school dress codes being sexist and encouraging rape culture has become very popular across school districts. There are stories about protests and strikes all around the country. I have witnessed these “dress code violations” and from what I witnessed, none of these girls were in the wrong. There have been too many times that young ladies get dress coded because what they are wearing is a “distraction” to young men. These boys need to be taught self control and I should not get punished because I was dressing comfortably for the weather.…

Everyone has their own opinion on what attire is appropriate for school; some people may feel that some of the clothes that the girls wear is “too much”, but what exactly is too much? A majority would say that revealing shoulders and bra straps are inappropriate, but others would think differently. While some of the clothes people wear shouldn’t be worn in a learning environment, society shouldn’t be biased and make a fair dress code for both male and female students because it can make female women students ashamed of their bodies, which is degrading and makes them out to be sexual objects. With male students having the privilege to wear almost whatever they want, it makes females feel like they should cover up their bodies due to the fact that their bodies can distract boys from getting an education.(Since a females education isn’t as important). There has been many incidents where a female student would be taken out of class or sent home because her shoulders were showing or was wearing shorts on a hot day.…

Gender discrimination, or more of a response to receiving gender equality, is shown in the literary work of “the Reasons that Induced Dr. S[wift] to Write a Poem Called the Lady’s Dressing Room”. This work is a reply to Jonathan Swift’s “The Lady’s Dressing Room”, which describes his experience in a Lady’s dressing room. It goes on to describe a woman as some horrid animal, and this experience ruins women for Swift completely. The writing of this poem is in such a negative slander and shows the ugliness of women in Swift’s eyes. He even states “such gaudy tulips raised from Dung” (line 145), explaining that he cannot believe something so ugly came from something that is supposed to be beautiful.…

Studies have proven that kids same sex classes get better grades, but grades aren't the only thing that matters. Having boys and girls together helps kids develop as a person, because they're exposed to more, therefore we should not have girls and boys separated into different classes in school. First off, there are more than just two genders. Where are you planning on putting the kids that don't fit into those two, very small, society conforming, boxes? What about non-binary or gender-fluid kids, to name just two of the other possibilities.…
