The main idea of this article was describing how media was changing people, mainly females about how they look and act. Media was described as taking over girl’s lives. For example, by showing them unrealistic views and acts of other girls their age. It has been studied and more females have gotten diagnosed with depression, eating disorders, or very low self-esteem now at a lower age. Now, girls are focusing on being/looking sexy and fitting in rather than being themselves and acting their age.

The removal of pubic hair have become more and more of a norm. It has been brought upon by media. So many people follow social norms from media this is now one. Women with no pubic hair are now know to be “more attractive” than those who do have pubic hair. Because of this norm, more women and younger girls are following this trend to fit in and be “more attractive and clean”.
Back in the Renaissance the art work was shown that women had no, or very little pubic hair and that showed their attractiveness and dominance. A study explained how women that shaved had a higher self-esteem about their body over women that didn’t shave their pubic hair. This study also explained how the women that shaved had more sexual function as well. Complete pubic hair removal was more common in younger teens rather than anyone 30+, which is most likely seen from media and taken a part on younger females.
The media enforcing women to follow norms is in the human sexuality textbook. It described how most women are following media and really focusing on trying to fit in and look good and act good for others. This media has now impacted women that completely shaving their pubic hair is a good thing, and if you don’t that’s not clean, and not what everyone else does.
