Texture and pattern
Visually looking at the “Girl with braids”. The simulated texture looks as if she is very cuddly because of the curvy black outline of her body. Her face, hands and her neck looks very rough because of the short lines that made it look very wrinkly. The most interesting part of her body in the art work is her braided hair. This artwork gives a sad and despondent mood and feeling. It also gives an uncomfortable feeling too. Artist, Salvtore Zofrea communicated these examples of mood and feelings by using contrast to make this artwork look more serious.

The artist is communicating a very personal part of his life about “The death of his Grandfather.” He has used his imagination to tell us that when his grandfather died it wasn’t the most happiest thing to deal with at all. From looking at the artwork I interpreted as being the most depressing time for everyone to go through. Also he would’ve try telling a story that when someone dies it is very hard to deal with and you feel brokenhearted.

The artist used different varieties of lines to show his expressive quality of the artwork. The lines such as thick, thin, short and long shows what the people in the artwork feel like. The author’s tone at these moments expressed sorrows to the coach’s physical weakening by cancer and explained developments of the illness in his appearance. Statements such as “The last time I saw my high school football coach / he had cancer stenciled into his face” demonstrates a depressing attitude towards how the cancer is affecting his body negatively (L. 1). The expression of the coach left a mark in the boy’s head as anyone else would with a work of art they felt a connection to. This can show the connection the boy felt through something as simple as the coach’s image. The use of tone allows the reader to feel and understand different emotions and moods throughout the poem, which helps bring awareness to the author’s meaning of the entire…

M.C. Escher’s art has always been fascinating to look at; his tessellations especially. I was first introduced to him by my psychology teacher when we looked at optical illusions, and then, once again in art class when he was introduced as an amazing artist, rightfully so. Being a fan of his art, I was amazed to find I could translate it in math terms as well; tessellations turn into geometric ratios and formulas. From psychology, to art, to math, M.C.…

In this art piece “Icicles Weaving in & out of a rock” the artist Andy Goldsworthy, uses formal elements to create this work of art. One example showing formal elements is Line. The line is created by the icicles that were attached together by small icicles to form into one, to create an illusion that it was all connected going through a rock. The line is shown by the direction the icicle is moving on the rock, from the beginning thick tip to the other end of the thin tip. Like the way most other little boys would have their hair. I think if a young boy were to be reading this article, and had similar hair would see the realism and relate to it. Lastly, the last realism moment that I found in comic was on the last strip where Trudy kisses Nate. During the kiss, the cartoonist has lines surrounding them, which is an example of Implied Movement. Because of those lines we can see that Trudy is grabbing Nate and kissing him rather than it just happening…

Leonardo da Vinci was intellectually well-rounded and produced masterpieces of art, scientific investigation, and architecture throughout his long life. “Learning never exhausts the mind.” These are some of the wise words of Leonardo da Vinci. This particular quote personally stands out to me because da Vinci never let up on learning until the day he died, he just always kept it up. This love of learning, consequently, cultivated his fascination and close studies of the human anatomy.…

In the background of the Art Critic, straight lines are brought together from their various angles to suggest the corner of an art museum, while many contour lines work together to create the organic shapes that make up the scene. Specifically, this painting depicts a young man who is leaning forward to inspect a portrait of a woman and looking through a magnifying glass to examine a brooch clasped close to her chest. Light and shadow are used to create the illusion of depth on the young man’s form; he almost appears to be three dimensional as he gazes at her portrait. The colors on the woman’s portrait are bright, involving the primary colors at a greater intensity than anywhere else in the painting.…

This piece is called Warrior with Shield by Henry Moore, from the mid-twentieth century (1953-1954). Looking at this sculpture we see a powerful image of a man who looks like a solider, defending himself. The body is manipulated by the artist in such a way that both fear and strength are portrayed in the sculpture. The man is sitting, holding a circular shield in his right hand towards his chest. His left arm and leg are severed, which could be the reasoning for him not standing while protecting himself.…
