“Girl watching” is the term that refers to the actions of men sexually evaluating women. It takes place through sexually subjective verbal use or gestural messages. Before this question, when the man was describing his typical day in the work place, he did not describe the act of “girl watching” being involved into the mix. However once they were “changed into the opposite sex, “girl watching” then all of a sudden came into the mix for the men. Through the whole scenario we see that “girl watching” is not meant to be a premeditated act from men, it is just something that they do to find identity. Later on in the article, it discusses the masculine identity that men have and how they maintain this image with their peers by “girl watching”. In this instant, the girl is not seen as a player in “the game”, but nearly as an object/opportunity to prove one’s masculinity to his peers. The Article used the example of “friends not believing you could get a girl that good” so the man finds his identity of masculinity in trying to get the girl no mater what it takes, (showing his manliness). This situation is most certainly not an aggressive sexual appraisal of women, but a practice created for the benefit of men.
