Giovanni Bellini was born in Venice, Italy and he was born in about 1431. Both Giovanni and his brother grew up in their father’s house. In Venice, Bellini’s whole family were well known for the artwork that they produced. Out of all of the Bellini family, Giovanni was the most well known and most well-known artist of Venice during the Renaissance. Bellini’s father was also a painter and his style of art was most likely influenced by his father. Agony in the Garden was painted on tempera on panel in 1465.
