Giotto Di Bondone is known as The Father of Painted Pictorial Art. The early Renaissance artist portrayed the element of naturalism, which focused on creating natural pieces of art. Giotto was drawn to Classical Art and his works led to the change of Europe coming out of the Gothic age and entering the Italian Renaissance. According to the book Gateways to Art (page. 466), Giotto created a more believable, human space, which was part of the transition from Gothic to the Italian Renaissance. Artists like Giotto opened up a new path for future high Renaissance artists, such as the artist Michelangelo. Michelangelo was a “Renaissance man”, he was an iconic figure who was able to establish a new form of creative and realistic style. Moreover, his ideas introduced a new style of classical forms and he was able to create some of the most valuable art pieces this world has come to know, his creations include the Day, Night, and Dusk sculptures, The Last Judgement, the Pieta, the David sculptures, and the Sistine Chapel ceiling paintings. Michelangelo had a passion for art and philosophy, if it was not for earlier artist like Giotto, he would have not been inspired and lead to create such beautiful and breathtaking art
