Ginny: A Short Story

“Jason, would you be kind enough to take me back to my car before it gets towed away” asked Ginny?

“Sure you don’t want to walk and get some exercise” he teased, “you’re looking like you haven’t been doing much of that lately.”

“If you don’t like it, I won’t come back” Ginny teased right back at him!

“Speaking of coming back, how about tonight” he asked hoping to get a “Yes”.

“Oh, I really wish I could, but remember Pam, my sister? She’s coming in from Chicago today. Chances are, she’s already at mom and dad’s wondering where in the Hell I am.” Ginny answered. “We’re supposed to spend the day together visiting some of our cousins and friends, and then go out with mom and dad to eat tonight. She’s a blast. I bet you’d

It’ll be fun. Mom and dad won’t mind and I’m sure Pam would love to see you” she pressed.

“No, you guys go on and enjoy the evening. You two probably have a lot of catching up to do. I’ll figure out something to do” Jason responded.

“Like going to the Bluebird and finding another girl to screw” she asked jokingly?

“No. Can’t do that tonight. I gotta get up and go to church tomorrow” Jason replied. “Going to ask the minister to come over and do a house blessing tomorrow. Next door neighbor talked me into it. Said with all the people that’s lived here, a blessing wouldn’t hurt.”

“Jason … I didn’t know you were the religious type” Ginny said. “Last night, you sure weren’t thinking about praying.”

“You might be surprised” he said with a smile. “Maybe, I was thanking God for sending you to the Bluebird to meet me.”

Ginny sat in the kitchen chair and just looked at him for a moment. He continued to push her into thinking everything was picking up where it had left off years ago. She wondered if he really did care for her as much as he let on, or if he was just one hell of a liar feeding her a line until he found someone else? He seemed to be straight forward, but she’d been fooled before. Although her guard wasn’t down, she had to remember to keep it up. Otherwise, she knew she’d fall head over heels in love, as if she already hadn’t, and leave herself open for another one of life’s major

“Well, I’ve got classes until 4:30 Monday afternoon, and I’ll really need to study afterward. I’m free Tuesday. Wanna make it a full day?”

“I don’t know if I can wait that long” Jason answered.

“I’ll make it worth your weight” she said with a smile.

“Now, you’ve got me thinking I wish I had a time transporter and could jump inside it, hit a button, and it would be Tuesday in a second.”

“All good things are worth waiting for” she slyly responded.

“That’s what I tell all the girls” Jason said teasingly.

“You bastard” replied Ginny, bending over to give him another kiss. “We need to go. Get your keys. I need to save my energy for Tuesday.”

It only took him ten minutes to drive her to where Ginny had parked her car the previous evening. She gave him a quick kiss, walked to her car, and held up a yellow parking ticket she’d just pulled out from under the wiper blade. Laughing, she walked back to his open passenger window and said, “See how much that last fuck cost me. Fifteen dollars! I should make you pay at least half.”

“You mean I’m not worth at least fifteen dollars? Damn, I’m going to have to lower my prices.” Jason joked right back at her.

“See you Tuesday” she
