The word hero means many things to many people. Different cultures have different meaning to the word hero. In my opinion a hero is someone you look up to and believe in fully to always do the right thing as you have seen them do before. What I think is hero may not be the same as another person’s characteristics. Rama, from the epic Ramayana and Gilgamesh from The Epic Of Gilgamesh were both seen as heroes in their cultures for similar reasons and for reasons their own individual cultures saw as heroic. From what I have learned I see that a major way to be considered an epic hero, is for the character to venture on a spiritual quest and show some heroism while on the quest. In Rama's case, his father commanded that he go on a 14-year quest
