The Epic of Gilgamesh, it is a very interesting book. But the focus of this will be about this Flood account that happened in the story. And it will be compared to the Flood that was shown in the Bible
In the book, The Epic of Gilgamesh. There is a story of a man who is told by one of the gods of that time. That one of the gods was angry at humanity. So he was going to send a flood and wipe out humanity, but one god heard this and told Gilgamesh’s father. So his father turned his house into a boat. And then the flood hit and almost wiped out humanity. Every one died, but Gilgamesh’s father and his family, after they were on the boat for a while when the father released a dove a raven, and a pigeon. And to build a boat after the ark was finished God sent two of every animal to the ark. Then God told Noah to board the ark and God sealed the door behind them, then it started raining and the windows of heaven opened. And the seas burst forth and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, but it took over 150 days for the water to subside. The Noah sent out a raven and it did not return, then he sent a dove, and it returned with an olive branch. Then he sent the dove out again and it did not return then Noah knew that the earth was dry.
There are lots of similarities between the two. But LOTS of differences, one part of the Gil side are many gods. But in the bible there is only one God, in the Gil story the gods wanted to wipe humanity out for no reason. In the Bible, God was grieved so he sent a flood to wipe the sin away.
