Gifts Of Jesus Research Paper

Decent Essays
Jesus is visited by people referred to as wise men, kings, or the magi. The gifts which the magi bring to Jesus are consistently described as gold, frankincense and myrrh.

These three gifts were standard gifts to honor a king or deity in the ancient world: gold as a precious metal, frankincense as perfume or incense, and myrrh as anointing oil.

While these gifts had a very practical purpose, there is also a great deal of spiritual symbolism in the gifts offered in terms of Jesus as Priest, Prophet and King.

Jesus gave us all a better gift: The gift of a clean slate and forgiveness from our sins; all you have to do is take the gift.

Firstly, a basic definition of topic: Christology is the study of the person of Jesus as the Christ: the Anointed One, The Messiah and the One who saves. Secondly, Jesus is the foundation stone of a belief that God is present in the world and that God can be known and experienced. And the heart of an act of faith: a people trusting and knowing that God sent Jesus.…

THE VALUE OF GODLY PARENTS Of all the possessions you own, what is the most valuable thing you hope to pass down to your children? Family heirlooms are special, but how many individuals would be willing to trade all they ever inherited from their parents for the chance to speak to them just one more time? Patrick Henry is famous for his statement, “give me liberty me death,” in response to British tyranny that sparked the Revolutionary War. What many do not know is that near the end of his life, he made another statement of greater significance: “‘I have now disposed of all my property to my family. There is one thing more I wish I could give them, and that is the Christian religion.…

What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…

The conflict between the Christians and the Jesus Seminar has been an ongoing struggle since 1985. The Jesus Seminar, founded by Robert Funk, originated in 1985 as around 70 biblical scholars set out to determine the legitimacy of Jesus’ sayings (Dart). The Seminar focused on the historicity of Jesus using the best methods of science and literary criticism as it pertains to the Bible. Funk believed that the gospel writers had made Jesus into a “larger than life” figure in order to satisfy their religious desires. The Jesus Seminar’s goal is to rid the historical figure of Jesus from “Christian legend and myth” and to find out who Jesus really was and what he really said (Craig).…

Due to my working hours, l can’t be there when my son’s come home from school, so my wife will have them call me at work shortly after they arrive. When my son’s and I converse generally we talk about the events of their day. recently my oldest son (13) calls and tells me of a bully who has called him names and my son is asking what he should do, how should he respond? The Gift of the Magi, by O' Henry, utilizes allusion to portray a better understanding towards the theme of the story. The author references wealthy biblical figures to emphasize Jim and Della Young's obvious poverty. By stating that Della's hair is to be so gorgeous that it would devalue the Queen of Sheba's jewels and that Jim's watch is said to bring envy from King Solomon, the author highlights how precious Della and Jim regard their possessions. For the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon were both powerful monarchs renowned for their abundant wealth, to Jim and Della those two items are treasures. The author as well compares the young couple to the magi; the magi are often depicted as wise men that brought Jesus three expensive gifts: gold,…
