3.1 Who is a gifted learner?
When describing young gifted children there is no definition that best describes them. However, gifted children by definition are, “Children who give evidence of high-performance capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership capacity, or specific academic fields, and who require services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop such capabilities.”
3.2 How does the gifted learner’s behaviour differ from the rest of the class?

¥ John picks up on things quite fast, he only listened and watched the teacher’s demonstrations and was able to do the assignment himself.
3.3 How does the educator deal with the gifted learner?
The educator didn’t treat John differently to any other child in the class, by this I mean she didn’t praise him more than the other children. However, the educator did assign John an alternative assignment once he had finished helping the other students. The assignment required inquisitive research, in-depth acquisition of knowledge as well as problem-solving.
Presenting alternatives motivate Gifted Learners. The educator assigned the John the task of compiling a list of suggestions to make their science textbook better, for example, should more pictures be added, etc.?
The educator made sure to keep John occupied so he didn’t become bored, restless or disrupt the class. John was more than happy to tackle a new task, he enjoyed having to think and do research. Nevertheless, he was not able to complete the assignment due to the lesson ending but he asked the educator if he could please take it home with him to
