Gibbs Reflective Cycle In Nursing

Description
For this assessment, I will be using the Gibbs (1988) Reflective Cycle (Oxford Brookes University, 2016) to reflect on a situation where I have been struggling to work on assessments early. I was given an assessment which was not due until three weeks later, because I did not do it early on, other assessments came up and my work started piling up which stressed me out but I finished them in the end. Although I have completed all the work, the grades I have achieved were lower than expected.

Feelings
I felt upset as I knew I my capabilities. I also felt stressed and pressured that I have disappointed my parents as I know they expected more from me. I was very anxious that I might get used to the habit of not doing work early on and that it could lead to even lower marks, failing the unit or not succeeding in my nursing course.

The bad thing about my experience is that I cannot rewind the situation, I would have achieved a higher grade if only I did not procrastinate. In 2015, research from Warwick Business School, para 5, has shown that “delaying submission due to poor study habits has a serious and detrimental effect on performance” which is evident with my grades. Also, the cycle could continue if I get used to it so much that I do not discipline

I have a similar view compare to yours, I firmly believe that nurses or advance practice nurses do apply theories, models and principle in daily nursing practice, however, the theories, models and principles are simply gone unnoticed. There is room for improvement to enhance the awareness of theories, models and principles that are being applied, however I believe that does not represent the theory-practice gap. I appreciate your expression on how you have gained deeper understanding of the theories that you have learned, and you are planning on including more theories into future practice. I have adjusted my philosophy after the semester of learning. At beginning of the semester, I simply believe one particular theory will support my advance…

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council defines the enrolled nurse (EN) as, an associate to the registered nurse who demonstrates competence in the provision of patient-centred care as specified by the registering authority’s license to practice, educational preparation and context of care (Monash, 2013). As the enrolled nursing is on an on-going learning career, critical thinking, reflection and analysis are vital criteria that a nurse should concern during her duties and studies. Mainly these three points are significant to deliver a quality patient-centred care. Because some nurses that have been learnt these criteria are not applying in their clinical practice. Critical thinking helps ENs to make judgments related to client’s human…
