Gibberellins: Interpretation And Analysis Of

Interpretation and Analysis
Gibberellins are a tetracyclic diterpenoid compound that stimulates the reorganization of cellular organelles and the synthesis of new proteins such as enzymes. GA exerts its influence in two manners, first by increasing the growth potential of the embryo and second by inducing hydrolytic enzymes. Once a plant releases gibberellins, its cells begin a process of elongation. Since plants are composed of single cells stacked on top of one another, this elongation of thousands of individual cells results in the overall growth of the plant.

Usually in germination, the breakdown of starch to glucose in the endosperm begins shortly after the seed is exposed to water. Gibberellins in the seed embryo are believed to signal

There is an instant boost in growth rate during the seventh day; the seeds have grown from nothing to approximately 50mm in a span of two days. There isn’t much range (ranging 50 - 75mm) in the measurements meaning that gibberellic acid didn’t have much effect on the seeds.

In figure 2 however, there is a larger range (ranging 50 - 75mm) indicating that the gibberellic acid has had more of an effect on the plants that weren’t exposed to sunlight. The same thing can be said about an instant boost in growth rate, but earlier than the seeds that were exposed to sunlight. The boost in growth rate started around day 4, whereas it started at around day 7 for the seeds exposed to sunlight. While the cause is unknown, it can be said that there might have been errors or inconsistencies in the measurements taken.

After the seventh day the growth seems to be consistent, showing that the gibberellic acid had more of an effect on the plants in two days rather than eleven. In the graph however, there are some drops possibly indicating shrinkage. This does not occur regularly in plants. A reason for this could be instrument resolution (random error). Most instruments that are used for calculation have finite precision making it hard to read small measurements – in this case it was difficult to get exact measurements for the plants because parameters were not defined (i.e where to measure from and to) and the shoots were relatively

When taking results, there were very slight differences between the heights of the stems. Growth was seen in the plants, though there were small differences that we could see in the given amount of time. This was consistent across all the soil types. The differences ranged between 1 - 2 mm, which is not enough to come to a solid conclusion. If a graph was made, there would be no noticeable trendline or trends in the data. Instrument resolution was a random error because specific parameters were not defined and the measurement were not constant. For example, sometimes out group would measure to the top of the shoot but not exactly from the bottom. There might have been some measurements, but they were minimal differences for us to notice (human error - faulty

There is not a pattern to the data that was collected from the Cypress saplings. Groups 0.3 mmhos/cm and 2 mmhos/cm both fared better than 1 mmhos/cm. This leaves a hole in the pattern that was predicted to occur. I assumed that a gradual rate of health was going to appear from the results but no consistency was revealed. The most obvious course of conclusion is to say that not enough time was put into this experiment.…

The number of seeds does effect the growth of the plant, depending on some factors which are the size of the pot, and the watering method for both of the control and the experiment. Those environmental factors had influenced the growth of the pinto bean experiment plant. The pot size that was used for the control plant was 250 ml, which turned out to be insufficient for the experiment plant with more number of seeds, causing an ingrowth of what was supposed to be an experiment plant. In additional to that, infrequent care in watering the plants could be one of the reasons to the failure of the growth, leading to several effects on both the control and the…

In order to exam the effects of auxin, gibberellins and abscisic acid on plant growth we generated an experiment to track the growth, specifically height of a corn seed. To begin, obtain two small planters, each with six individual compartments. Label one planter A and the other B. On the outside of the two small planters label five of the six compartments IAA, NAA, GA, ABA, and Control. The sixth compartment will not be used.…

Each lab table was responsible for growing a pea plant. Nine pea plants were planted in total. The pea plants were separated into three groups. The first group was without any auxin, the second group had 500 ppm of auxin, and the last group had 5,000 ppm of auxin. The growth of the pea plants were recorded and ranked using a Wilcoxon test to determine which peas showed significant growth.…

If this was a pull plot, the steps for determining coverage of plants were repeated. At the corners of the quadrat, tree density was measured by finding the nearest sapling and tree in the direction of the quadrat corner. Using the DBH tape, diameter of the trees and saplings were recorded and tree species was recorded.…

The results were as expected; the only anomalies that could have affected the results would be the unknown nutrients in the soil and the water molecules in the air and pre-existing inside the soil and plants. Osmosis is basically vital for every organic organism, if a plant does not have enough water molecules it looks wilted. As you can see from figure 2-4, the plants are wilted. Plants looked wilted if they lack the proper amount of water and in turn loose their turgor (Osmosis in plants, 2015).…

The intention of this experiment was to find out which of the two hormones, Gibberellic Acid or Brassinosteroids, would have the greatest effect on growth among our test subjects, the organism Arabidopsis thaliana. The results of this experiment were not as we hypothesized. Gibberellic acid proved superior in cell elongation, which can be observed by way of plant height. This was a rejection to our original hypothesis, as well as a contradiction to the study: “Interactions between Brassinosteroids and Gibberellins: Synthesis or Signaling?” ; the information from which we based our hypothesis (Laura JQ, et al, 2017).…

Some possible mistakes that could have occurred during this experiment can include the following: Miscalculating the distance between the Elodea plant and the light source.…

Introduction: Genetic transformation is used in many areas of biotechnology. In medicine, diseases caused by defective genes are beginning to be treated by gene therapy by genetically transforming a sick person’s cells with healthy copies of the defective gene that causes their disease. Genes can be cut out of human, animal, or plant DNA and placed inside bacteria, which could treat a person with that disease. For example, a healthy person’s gene for the insulin can be put into bacteria. Under the right conditions, the bacteria can make useable human insulin.…
