Ghost of Alcatraz Island
Off the coast of San Francisco, California you’ll find Alcatraz Island which has a long and ghostly history. Ages ago Native Americans banished miscreants to this island for punishment and the story goes that they were troubled by local spirits. In 1934 Alcatraz was turned into a notorious federal prison that became a prison to such criminals as Al Capone. It was closed in 1963. Now it has become an attraction for tourists. For years Henry tried to get a divorce from his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. He wound up attempting to sever England’s relationship with the Catholic Church in Rome and forever changed the course of British history. However once Henry was free to wed Anne, he just as quickly got tired of her and believed the gossip that surrounded her. In 1536 he had her beheaded.
Afterwards it appears that her ghost began to haunt her childhood home, Hever Castle in Kent, England. The story goes that every Christmas Eve her ghostly figure can be seen floating across the bridge over the Eden River heading for her family home, where she was always the happiest.
The Headless Horseman
One of the most haunted houses in England is Roos Hall in Suffolk. This is a 16th century hall with many sinister connections among them a horrible “hanging tree”. This oak tree saw many criminals being hung. Inside the hall there is a cupboard that has the imprint of the hoof of a Devil.
The most scary and dramatic haunting occurs every Christmas Eve when according to legend a headless horseman come riding down the driveway with four black horsed pulling his phantom coach. It is supposedly quite a frightening sight and has scared all who have witnessed this.

Inside the coach was a young lady and her father. Gilbert had them step out of the coach however at the moment the young lady stepped out, the horses bolted and took off with her father still inside. Now the young woman found herself alone on the dark road with the highwayman. When she looked closely at him she recognized that he was the same highwayman who had murdered her brother some years earlier.
The young lady was so horrified that she took a knife hidden in her bag and stabbed Gilbert in the side then fleeing into the bushes. Once the horses were calmed the coat returned some time later. The men found the bloodied body of the highwayman and buried him at the side of the road. The next day the villagers found the young lady in the forest where she had quite lost her mind. Many avoided this spot for some time to come and it is said that every Christmas Eve since this bloody scene keeps being replayed to all how become witness to
