Ghostbusters: I Am A Scientist

“Back off man; I’m a scientist.” In the movie, Ghostbusters, Peter Venkman is a parapsychologist and the leader of the Ghostbusters. Peter and I are similar because we are both funny, random, and very talkative. Peter and I are both funny. Peter was never serious with anything he did, and he always had an amusing comment to add to any situation. In my opinion, I can be capricious at times. I love having a good laugh and sharing one. Sometimes when I’m goofing off with friends, I can sometimes get myself in hindrance. At times, Peter and I may say something that has nothing to do with the task at hand, this means that we can both be a little random. Egon, another Ghostbuster, has described Venkman as a “borderline maniac”, just because

Many people are confused about what paranormal actually means. To most, the term can be pictured with pale ghosts and walking zombies or aliens with their bright UFOs. A real definition, however, is explained as: "the scientific study of interactions between living organisms and their external environment that seem to transcend the known physical laws of nature. Parapsychology [the study of the paranormal phenomena] is a component of the broader study of consciousness and the mind" (Rhine 1). This explanation describes it as the study of supernatural and paranormal beings we are unable to see, hear, or use any other sense to locate these spirits.…

“A tragedy is a tragedy, and at the bottom, all tragedies are stupid. Give me a choice and I'll take A Midsummer Night's Dream over Hamlet every time. Any fool with steady hands and a working set of lungs can build up a house of cards and then blow it down, but it takes a genius to make people laugh.” In comedy, the only characteristic shared between comedies is their want to make people laugh, and it can be difficult to pull off such a seemingly simple task. As defined by the New Oxford American Dictionary, Category: A class or division of people or things regarded as having particular shared characteristics. Comedy itself falls into a category as a class of things regarded as having a particular shared characteristic, that is wanting to…

When the original “Ghostbusters” released in 1984, writers Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, as well as producer Ivan Reitman had no doubt that it would be great but had no idea that it would sell a million times over, becoming a famous worldwide franchise. It was the most successful film in America that year and one of the most successful comedies of the eighties (en.wikipedia.org). It is one of the most classic iconic films of its time and that’s probably why there are so many “Ghostbuster” fans in the world. “Ghostbusters” is also known for its one-liners and dry humor. It wasn’t until after the death of Harold Ramis, who played Dr. Egon Splenger, and an original Ghostbuster, the plans for the reboot wouldn’t be produced and released until 2016.…

End of May 2015. 14 year old me hunched over my desk in the back row, waiting for my teacher to play a video demonstrating “proper satire” to our Fiction Writing class. It started with a set of parents scolding their irresponsible children for finding drugs in their bedroom; the plot was so clichè that it hardly caught my attention. Suddenly, I jumped upon hearing a middle aged man shout, “YOU’RE GONNA BE DOING A LOT OF DOOBIE ROLLING, WHEN YOU’RE LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!”. The video was now about a heated, overweight motivation speaker screaming in the ear of a lanky blonde boy.…
