Ghost Of Christmas Present Book And Movie Comparison Essay

Although the book and movie were very similar, they were also very different in many ways. For example, the Ghost of Christmas Past was a very elegant, almost glowing woman. In the book however, the Ghost of Christmas Past was practically “like a child: yet not so like a child as like an old man” (A Christmas Carol, 53). Secondly, Tiny Tim, in the movie, actually waited out for his father while he was at work, and they walked home together. In the book, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim’s father, walked home alone and played with the children in the street, slipping and sliding in the ice. The final difference is about Scrooge and how while at Fred’s house in the book, he was very cheerful and happy at the time the Ghost of Christmas Present came. At Fred’s house in the movie, Scrooge was not as happy and not as sad to leave. The book and the movie are very different in many ways. Specifically while at Fred’s house with the Ghost of Christmas Present. One of the most key parts of this scene was when they began to play a game, specifically a guessing game. The guests had to guess a synonym a word given by Fred. Most of the guests were bad at this game and did not know many of the answers where as Scrooge however, was very intelligent and knew all the answers. As the game came to an end in the movie, the ghost asked Scrooge to follow him as they left. Scrooge was not in denial at all and did not beg to stay another moment as they left. Overall, he just seemed harsher in the movie than in the book because when he was asked to leave in the book, he begged and begged to stay just a little bit longer to get to play in the game, even though no one could see him.
