In the future world where advance technology is available such as robotic bodies, invisibility, and night vision, many people lost their understanding and feeling of being human. “Ghost in the Shell” shows a cyborg girl to be hacking the Puppet Master. Major Mira, is not only a cyborg but is a human cyborg. This film shows the audience that technology will one day evolve, and robotics will improve life in ways that ordinary people will not be able to handle. This paper seeks to explore how Mamoru Oshii has shown that Major Mira shows three distinct features of being a human they are; emotions, she has a human organ, and Major has a soul. Aristotle’s theory proves that a soul is created through parts of the body or a mixture of body parts, the soul is the source of all movement and the essences of life. Aristotle thought that the soul is the form of the body and the soul, and that it simply is the total of all operations of a human being. Major Mira was told by Dr. Ouelet that “ your mind, your soul, your ghost, is still in here”, which showed that she has the characteristics of a human, which proves Aristotle's theory. Human souls are immortal, Socrates believed that death is not the end of existence, our souls upon death move onto another body. Major Mira’s soul was moved into this cyborg body, as well as her brain, which therefore allows her to fit all the characteristic of a human that have been portrayed by many philosophers. “Humanity is our virtue”. Major Mira, is part of humanity because she was able to process and document her life experience, Major Mira is able to ask question to validate her memories, which strengthness her humanity. Humanity is always evolving, in an article written in the Business Insider, humans will be full of technology, it will help them with her hearing, speaking, as well as their health.
