The first theory is structural functionalism. Structural functionalism is viewed as ordered of interrelated parts which are institutions that make up society. Some examples of institutions are family, education, politics or the economy. When parts of society do not work together it becomes dysfunctional. In the short film, it shows that when we are done using our electronics we tend to throw them away. We do not think about what happens after or where they end up. While Ghana is receiving all those old electronics they need to put them somewhere. As Americans, this keeps us running functionally, while the people in Ghana are not. It is dysfunctional because we use this electronics and get rid of them hoping other people to dispose of them properly. Ghana works to do that, while Americans continue to live in a safe environment. Conflict theory is the next sociological perspective able to explain …show more content…
Symbolic interactionism can be defined as meaning through a symbol or a sign. In the film, it talks about the electronic waste traveled from America to Ghana. The waste is a symbol of humanity because as humans we see our old and unuseful possessions pointless. This is why we tend to throw a lot of old possessions away. In Ghana, they live off the waste we throw away. The people of Ghana melt the metal to receive gold from it and money. "Wanted" is basically from a comic book that has limited series written by Mark Miller and J.G Jones, it is about an amoral protagonist (Wesley Gibson) who is discovered as the heir of super assassin. Russian director, Timur Bekmambetov, he is the cream of the crop, he turns this comic into a movie that make the viewers not sit still and make their adrenaline and cortisone levels spike with the actions. Bekmambetov used the similar style of shots and angles with his previous movie, Night watch. It's more to wide angle (long shot), so we can see the terrifying background like one of the scenes in the torture room, where Wes has been beaten up by the butcher. Not even that, there are many special effects that Bekmambetov applies in this movie, like slow-motion with sound effects that certainly provides that "ouch" reaction from audiences.…

Take the example of a mass shooting, yes a mass shooting is a devastating loss of life and it directly impacts the families. However, think what comes from it, for example social change in our attitudes towards the mental ill and gun control; and how it creates a tighter group cohesion of the community. When thinking of symbolic interactionism, it takes a closer look at how people use symbols to share their views of the world. Symbolic interactions focus on a series of face to face interaction. A mass shooting in context of symbolic interactionism looks at human behavior and what external influences drove the individual to commit the act of violence.…
