Ghajni Level 3 Unit 3

Improved Essays
Unit 3 focused on mental disorders. The Clinical disorders that I did not know much about were Schizophrenia/ Psychosis, Somatoform and Substance abuse-related. I was really eager to learn about these disorders and expand my knowledge. The disorders that I knew about were Anxiety, Eating, Mood, Sleep, Sexual because I know some people in my life who have these disorders. I have seen what they go through and how they deal with it. When I was younger I had symptoms of anxiety such as extreme worry about little matters, bad headaches and I had difficulty sleeping. As I grew up and entered high school, I formed relationships that really helped me overcome my anxiety. I think support system for someone who is going through anxiety is really beneficial because it really does help you overcome it.
I see these disorders around me all the time for example I saw PTSD in a movie. The main character in the movie Ghajni watched someone he loved die in front of him and that really affected his future. He would reexperience the trauma in his dreams. It was hard for him to interact with others around him. Also he was always angry to the point where he got extremely violent towards other people.

I learned that people with DID tend to forget what they do in their different state of being. I also noticed that people who go through trauma at a young age are most likely to have this disorder even though it is very rare. I came accross real life examples where people talk about their experience about DID. The article I read talked about how the person was having nightmares and hallucinations as symptoms of their disorder. They would have suicidal thoughts and they would find little errands like shopping for food traumatizing. After reading this I realized how hard it is to go through something like this in life and now I really want to help people who are going through

I have reviewed the evaluation and the call. I do agree the specialist should've educated the customer on the importance of not sharing their password to anyone. During the call the customer was a little confused as to why she was changing her password again and with why she was being transferred to another department when she was just transferred to us. At this point of the call the specialist had an opportunity to educate the customer as to why she was being transferred to OCS for help. Not just because she was trying to access the OLB, but because she disclosed her OLB password to us.…

There’s much you can learn through reading about different psychological disorders and concepts. The book “First Person Plural: My Life as a Multiple” by Cameron West specifically explains the life of Cameron West living with Dissociative Identity Disorder. I chose this book because of my uncertainty and intrigue about DID and the everyday struggles of multiples. Because this book is based on the actual accounts of Cameron West, I felt I got a better understanding of DID and could really get a feel for the thoughts and feelings of this man through his journey of dealing and coming to terms with his disorder. At the end of the book, I had gone through a whirlwind of emotions from sadness because of Cams past to have developed DID to utter joy that he learned how to accept it and lived a happier life.…

The treatment for OCD consists of medication or therapy that will help one cope with this disorder. Many believe this disorder occurs because one fixates on over analyzing, washing their hands, or checking and rechecking (Fawcett, 2015). Researchers have not yet to identify the main cause of this disorder, but it has been studied that it is from an imbalance in chemicals and other factors that play a part (Steketee & McCorkle, 2012).…

Psychological disorders and mental health issues in today’s society affect many people in a variety of ways. Many people in society are often stigmatized and labeled because of a psychological disorder shunning them from society, the work place, schools, friends, and more. However, recently through my research I see how many people are working their jobs, handling their careers, never stop working and aspiring with their goals, and face varied challenges at home, work, and out socially using a variety of therapies from medications, to psychologist visits, and even psychotherapy. There are over four hundred types of psychological disorders.…

The most commonly practiced treatment for the disorder is psychotherapy, though there are many different approaches to it. According to Dr. Steve Bressert, most therapists “take an individual modality (as opposed to family, group or couples therapy) and emphasize the integration of the various personality states into one, cohesive whole personality” (2016). Drug therapies are not effective for dissociative identity disorder, so it is much more difficult to treat then many other mental disorders. Finally according to Brand, Loewenstein and Spiegel: “Given the severe symptomatology and disability associated with DID, iatrogenic harm is far more likely to come from depriving DID patients of treatment that is consistent with expert consensus, treatment guidelines, and current research” (2014, p. 169). Thus, even though the treatments for the disorder are difficult to complete, it is ultimately better for the patient than if they simply do not seek treatment.…

Anxiety is something I have always been accustomed to, and even some of my earliest memories involve that anxious, nerve stricken feeling in the pit of my stomach. I was always the shy kid in the class, something to grow out of once I grew older, except that was not the case at all. Anxiety and I have grown closer over the years, so much so, that I developed several crippling anxiety disorders that shaped my life and how I lived it. It came on during my high school years and it affected my school work, my home life, and just about every instance in between. I would wake up every morning filled with anxiety dreading the day ahead of me, and waiting for it all to be over.…
