Part II: A History of the World in 6 Glasses by Tom Standage
To be turned in on August 26th 2011 (Will count as a major test Grade)
A History of the World in 6 glasses takes an approach to world history that is very innovative, Standage takes six major drinks through world history : beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea and Coca-cola and looks at the influence culturally, socially, politically and economically these drinks had on society. This book in no way represents Birdville ISD (or Mr. Wolf’s) endorsement of consumption of the previous beverages, however; hopefully this book provides an enjoyable and interesting perspective into our year long discussion over world history. “6 Glasses” will give you a sense of how civilizations changed over time with the influence of these beverages. For the following assignments please type, use double spaced 12pt Times New Roman font, write in COMPLETE sentences and do your own work. I also would like an electronic copy of your essays emailed to me by the due date. If you give this book a chance I really feel you will find some of the facts in this book very interesting.
