Getting Ready To Move? Follow This Checklist Of Important Things To Do

Moving can be a very daunting task as you try to pack up all your belongings to take them to your new home. Don’t let a big move catch up to you with too much to do before your moving day. This checklist will help you remember what you need to get done to make your move a success.

2 Months Prior To Your Move

Get Organized

If your belongings are unorganized prior to your move then they will be unorganized at your new home. This is because it is common to pack boxes by the room items were found in, and those boxes will be moved right back into a similar room at your new place. Some will do a simple estimate based on an inventory list that you provide, while others will want to come to your home and see your stuff in person.

1 Month Prior To Your Move

Gather Moving Supplies

You can’t start packing until you have boxes, packing tape, and bubble wrap to start putting things away. A month before your moving date is a good time to gather packing materials. This is because it’s possible to find other people that are throwing away or selling their used moving supplies. Search online classified ads for used boxes and you will save on this costly part of the moving process.

Hire Your Moving Company

Do not put off this crucial step until the last minute. The beginning of the month, end of the month, and weekends are popular days to hire movers. If you wait too long then you may not get the moving date that you want.

Start Packing

It’s never too early to start packing. Tackling this step little by little over the course of a month will help avoid packing everything the day before your move. Packing early will give you time to keep things organized, label boxes properly, and not waste your movers time as you scramble to tape boxes shut on your moving
