Throughout high school, I was never the kid who got out of their comfort zone. I went about my entire four years talking to the same group of friends and only focused on getting good grades. This has come to be one of my biggest regrets. Looking back, I wish I had gotten involved in clubs around campus and even sought out leadership positions in these clubs to not only develop my leadership skills, but also make important connections with my peers. At the time, I didn’t realize the importance of getting involved. Once I was accepted to the University of California, Santa Barbara, I realized it would be a great chance to have a fresh start and start pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
