The Murder of Emmett Till Getting away with murder is never the right thing. In the biographical story Getting Away With Murder by Chris Crowe, Emmett Till’s killers did just that: they got away with murder. Not only that, but they also got paid for telling stories about how they killed Emmett. I highly recommend this book to people that are into murder stories. This book is very descriptive. Chris Crowe is very descriptive on how his mother was very worried about Emmett going to Mississippi to visit family, how Emmett approaches the cashier, and how he was murdered. Looking, whistling, or even touching a white female down south was very wrong. As you can tell, Emmett did just one little thing which caused him to be murdered. He was murdered by Mrs. Bryant’s husband and his friend. His killers did so much damage to him that his family could not even tell it was him. The only way Emmett’s family knew it was him was because he was wearing his father's ring. Chris Crowe described in detail how Emmett looked after he was found. “One side of the victim’s forehead was crusted, an eye had been gouged out, and the skull has a bullet hole just above the right ear” (Crowe 64). This shows us that the Jim Crow Law is taken very seriously in Mississippi and if you break the law you better be worried. As you can see, Chris Crowe is very passionate about what he writes about and gives good details. He describes in depth how his mother was worried about Emmett going to Mississippi to visit family, how Emmett approaches the cashier, and how he was murdered. Emmett was only a fourteen year-old innocent boy when he was murdered. He did not listen to his mother when she told him to respect every white person, no matter what which caused him to get killed.
