The very popular sportswear company Columbia™ was first founded in Portland, Oregon, created so that the people of the Pacific Northwest could enjoy the outdoors with more comfort. The brand was founded in 1938 by Paul Lamfrom, who is the father of the present chair(wo)man Gert Boyle, who has held that position for forty years. Gert has practically grown Columbia into what it is today, a GLOBAL sportswear company. Even though it is a global company, it is still based in Portland, making apparel to keep people warm, dry, cool, and protected under all circumstances.
