Interview of Gersom Success He Never Imagined
Gersom a man who retired from the navy after eight years of service came to wonder what his next chapter in life would be. Married, a father, and a retired veteran, he wondered if he would follow his passion or just find a job that made decent money. His passion was in helping others and so he decided to follow his passion and make it into a career. Gersom decided to choose nursing a career he believed would become his passion. Three years of school later he had completed his associate’s in nursing and obtained his registered nurse license. Building work experience was a must if he wanted to have a job at a VA hospital so, he decided to take a job at a nursing home as an afternoon nurse. Once he

Gersom still wants to pursue a bachelor's in nursing and is even contemplating getting his Master’s. His new position has made him wonder how far he can go in the company. He is even contemplating becoming a Healthcare Administrator which would be running the whole nursing home facility. Knowing of Gersom’s future and observing his present is amazing knowing where he was in the past. I as the author has known Gersom for almost four years working with him as his aide on second and night shift. Gersom has always been a hardworking and understanding supervisor, one of the few examples of a successful person. When we worked together people would always talk to Gersom first about a decision before going to the directors of nurses, because he knew more and took the time to explain it to them. He is a reliable person who puts his coworkers and patients at ease when things are to …show more content…
Gersom exemplifies success in career field in the way that he has climbed up the ladder. Him climbing the career ladder is not the only thing that exemplifies success his attitude is also what helps him in his success. Gersom exhibits the qualities of a peak performer explained as setting goals and developing appropriate attitudes and behaviors to achieve desired outcomes (Ferrett 2017). Changing his negative thoughts into positive, realistic affirmation and learning to face obstacles has made Gersom a success. His positive attitude and learning to learn through the setbacks he has faced through his career shows his success in his field. His field is in nursing, but his attitude and work ethic is an example of a successful career person.
Conclusion
Success can be defined as a purpose or a person’s accomplishments. Gersom in this author’s opinion believes him to be a successful person in his field. His accomplishments as a nurse are the definition of success, but his characteristics are what also make him a success. In four and a half years he has become an ADON a position he never even imagined to be doing. His attitude on his career, his resilience when facing obstacles in life, and his work ethic are few but important characteristics of a successful
