Sadly over 6,000 American casualties have been confirmed adding to a total loss of roughly 10,000 allied men (Veterans). To those of you at home with sons, brothers, or husbands who fought today, pray they be delivered safely home, for if they are still breathing, it is only for the grace of God that they survived. What separates them from their fallen comrades may have been little more than a Nazi’s misfire. That being said, for those of you who may have lost a loved one, think not that they are gone, but think of how they died. Though for many this was their first experience with the horrors of war, seasoned veterans attest to this battle’s importance and future effect it will have on the allied war effort. With France just out of our grasp, the Allies will continue to push forward into Germany and then topple Hitler’s plans for world domination. The Soviets are sustaining attacks from the Germans, and beginning to fight back with power, proving further that Germany is getting cornered. With nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, Allied generals speculate the war will be won within a year, and Hitler will be forced to answer for his thirst to take over and control Europe.
