Von Stephanitz bought his first German
Shepherd, he was smitten. Widely recognised as the “father of the breed”,
Captain Von Stephanitz led the way in promoting German Shepherds and was instrumental in introducing them to life in the service. Recognising their high level of intelligence and ability to be trained, the German Shepherd Dog Club
