Had they been legitimately qualified to rule, the Roman Empire would have stood tall longer than it did. It might have remained one of the strongest civilizations in the world. The Roman Empires’ foreign policies involving Germanic barbarians and laziness to organize armies for guarding very specific areas were also signs of unqualified leadership. The Roman Emperors were too drunk on wine, high on sex, and enthralled in money to actually think about the way they ruled.
Good leadership, leadership not earned by the murder of thousands or nepotism, would have created an emperor who could have controlled and inspired armies to be more than murderers. Good leadership would have discussed foreign policies that would have prevented invasions, or at least better-trained armies that could fight the invaders. A good leader would not have allowed the creation of a new religion to cause a political schism in his or her country.
