Germaine Emilie Krebs known as Alix Barton and Madame Gres was born in Paris in 1903 and died in November 24, 1993. She was a fashion designer known as “master of the wrapped and draped dress” as well as the “queen of drapery”. She is a historical fashion designer who has inspired lots, one of them being Cristobal Balenciaga. She studied sculpture and her draping techniques were mostly inspired by Grecian and Roman sculptures, therefore her clothes were never provocative. She is mostly known for creating draped Grecian goddess gowns in her three favorite colors, which were cream, lacquer red, and a distinctive honey-colored jersey.
