Geriatrics: Article Analysis

I think its a great idea and unfortunately many professionals forget to question their practice for advancement, especially when they have been in their job for a longer period of time. I notice many in the beginning don't look to rock the boat and then later in their careers many get relaxed and forget new changes in advancement could greatly hinder their practice by not being more open. I personally am going into Healthcare administration and would prefer to work within the Geriatrics area. I notice the lack of advanced education and training is one of the largest issues you will find in these areas of healthcare. It's unfortunate because the main drive in society has become preventive care but I believe that there is still advancement for those in late stages of life especially when it comes to bed sore and pressure ulcers. Healthcare administrators could easily advance their clinics or facilities by having their employees train and do hands on group education to help with the understanding and care of such problems. Something that could be so easily resolved from turning a patient, is usually one of the huge downfalls for a patient who is older with workers who do not have the correct training …show more content…
Many hosptials have them yet nursing facilities and clinics forget to keep them on hand for their residents when needed. Something so simple could greatly alleviate the elevated issue of pressure sores within in this age range, but it is looked over by many administrators as a frivilous cost and say that patients families should purchase them. Because of this it gets looked over by the families because they also are not trained or educated
