It has been my dream, ever since a young age, to contribute to the latest developing cutting edge technologies. When reflecting on my time at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck (BHFS) that is rapidly approaching its closure, one word comes to my mind and that is “refined”. My time at BHFS has refined skills in the following: basic office protocol, off the cuff research, congressional research, legislative tracking/research, and daily professional interactions. When asked if my desired outcome was reached I would answer with resounding “yes”, I am very grateful that I have had the opportunity to intern and learn at BHFS. Outcome/Goals Before departing to DC, I had two goals, 1) pin point a clear direction to pursue a career in lobbying/government relations 2) experience everything DC has to offer.…

When I visited George Washington my sophomore year of high school, I instantly knew that your school is where I wanted to go for college. It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. I saw that GW is in a beautiful location and that its presence in the capitol greatly enhances both its value and the city’s around it. I really liked walking around the campus, as it was extremely vibrant. I saw that safety is also important, and the combination of security that holds jurisdiction in this area is extremely reassuring.…

I want to be a part of the NSF-REU program because I know I would make a great contribution. In an informal research project for my biology lab course, I led a team of four in a time-crunched, self-created lab. I took up the role of leadership, assigned tasks, organized meetings and worked outside of class hours to complete the testing. Taking charge wasn’t always easy for me but, at the College of Saint Benedict, there is a NSF S-STEM scholarship program called FoCuS. The program provides mentorship, leadership training and academic opportunities to students with a heavy interest in the sciences.…

Subsequent to reading the scientific literature, I contacted Ph.D. researchers from America, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Shangai, and Brazil and convened with them about my knowledge in their field while discussing the potential of future projects.
