Georgia Southern Leadership Analysis

My first semester at Georgia Southern has been an eventful time. I have had the honor of learning leadership roles and applying them to the community. Three qualities a leader should obtain are opening ears, dedication, and diligent work labor. With these three qualities, I have learned you can succeed in anything you put your mind too whether it's positive communication with your group, developing Scare on the Square, or giving back to Nature Activities. It is always best to balance the care for the product and people. At the beginning of the semester, the syllabus seemed overwhelming. All I saw was group projects everywhere. I am an organized young lady and very strong willed. Group work meant staying on pace with fellow group members and …show more content…
Development was a second lesson learned from the out of class experience. My group members and I either are taking over 15 hours' worth of courses or have jobs outside of class. Planning a meeting time for everyone to be there is not simple. Not to mention none of us live anywhere close together. The weather incidents crashed some of our meeting times and hindered decorating. It is very important for everyone to attend in order for everything to pan out. I am a busy bee and prefer to have everything complete a week in advance. Having to wait to meet up at a decent time or get in the haunted house was stressful. I was pleased with everyone being present at the announced meeting times. When it was time to get inside the haunted house, my group wasted no time. It was unreal how our finished product looked like something off a horror movie. I could not imagine if we would have thrown everything aside as in the task list. The task list was important in the development process by stating the needs and requirements. Striving for development will assist a noble leader in excellent planning and advanced …show more content…
This class is no joke. The syllabus titles projects with fun descriptions, but hard work follows. A diligent worker will grow into a servant leader. On the last day of class, Dr. Wolfe expressed how if we learned anything in this course, to never forget to be a servant leader. A servant leader is giving back to the community. Giving back to the people is what this course was all about, whether it was giving back to our classmates or downtown Statesboro. I have never interacted so close with my classmates or even my community regarding any academic activity. The Scare on the Square was the best example. It was so heartwarming to see the smiles on the kids' faces from how hard the pumpkin patch section worked. The haunted hayride pleased many families with the alien theme. The haunted house brought many tears and frowns, but that's the product the people want. No telling how many kids never get to experience a true Halloween holiday. A diligent worker will be a servant

To many, the end of October is a time of corn mazes, costume parties, and haunted houses. Many cultures celebrate harvest festivals during October, though none are as well-known as Halloween. Because Halloween is primarily descended from the Celtic festival of Samhain, when some think of Halloween, they think of bats and cats and witches. However, although Halloween as it is currently know is a wholly American creation with regional rituals handed down by generations, it did not become a “full-blown American holiday” until the turn of the century (Bannatyne). Because of the contemporary nature of Halloween, without Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Sylvia Plath’s “Lady Lazarus”, and George A. Romero’s Night Of The Living Dead, the holiday as we…

Leaders have many qualities and all of them are very important but I find a few that I found very important to have as a leader. You need to be brave and have courage you need to listen to what other people have to say and to have passion for what you do. You have to have a lot of qualities to be a understanding and caring leader . I found that Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass share this qualities Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman had a lot of courage to do what they did . Harriet would still go back to free other slave after getting out of slavery herself it took a lot of courage of and bravery to go back to help others she could have been killed or become a slave again .…

Dara Lemberg Mr.Kriemer Government 11 October 2015 George Mason the Reluctant leader ‘‘Mr. Chairman, whether the Constitution is good or bad, the presented clause clearly discovers that it is a National Government, and no longer a confederation. I mean that clause which gives the first hint of the General Government laying direct taxes. The assumption of this power of laying direct taxes, does of itself, entirely change the confederation of the States into one consolidated Government. This power being at discretion, unconfined, and without any kind of control, must carry everything before it.’’…

Wes Moore’s leadership attributes are not specific to him. Instead, such attributes as courage, reverence, and loyalty are prevalent in all leaders in society. These characteristics, and more, are all included in the Boy Scouts of America Scout Law: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent (BSA 2016). The reason the Boy Scouts were acknowledged directly is because I am an Eagle Scout. To be an Eagle Scout, one must show exemplary leadership in their community by leading a service project that is beneficial to all.…

The author doesn’t comprehend why there are parents who allow their children to participate in these kinds of events. The author then proceeds to assert that she doesn’t “get Halloween, ..the celebration, ..the pumpkins” and overall the “creepy ghostly” features on houses. The adoption of repetition is to prompt the idea to the audience that the whole celebration is chaotic to her and shows the reason why she has written this article. Moreover, the comment attached was written by another parent, Ellie, conveys an opposite point of views from Warren’s. Ellie informs in a relaxed tone that she views Halloween as a “street party” as the other parents are able to “chat, ..meet now neighbours” and the “kids (are able to) get some excitement” during this event.…

It also turned out to be one of the more challenging group projects I’ve ever worked on at the University of Washington, not only because of the task but also because of the group dynamic. Looking back on that project, I think it could have been a lot smoother had we designated very specific roles much earlier in the quarter and had one administrator to put together everyone’s work and to make sure people were actually doing their assigned work. That project was also the first time I’ve worked on a project that required a significant amount of design creativity, in which everyone had to express and argue for their ideas, while also always keeping the client in mind. As for, Maple Valley, coming into the practicum having a better idea of what was expected of our group, I felt much more confident in our work. Coming in and being able to ask Matt Torpey the right questions also got us off to a good start, I think that was one of our bigger issues winter quarter is that our group didn’t even know what it was we wanted to know.…

Working on these types of projects taught me the importance of working in groups and taught me how to coordinate with other people’s schedules. These are lessons I believe would be valuable to after leavening TSU. This was also the more difficult part of the project. Working with people in the class it easier because everyone is aware of what is going on and receive the same set of instructions, therefore making easier make group arrangements. When working outside…

Teachers and staff teach students to be willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. It teaches them to give back to the community and to further understand interpersonal relationships. By teaching children the fundamentals of community service at an early age, they can easily adopt these principles and utilize them throughout their further life. They can become productive members of society and contribute immensely to their local community through the lessons taught by Old Trail on and off campus. For example, on Earth Day, students from ECP to 8th grade plant trees and give back to the environment.…

Social Work with Groups course is giving me more insight to the other courses that I have taken previously and some of those that I am currently rolled in such as Social Work with Families and Community Development. After reading the textbook and the discussions in class, the theories of group counseling, viewing groups through multicultural lens, leadership qualities and functions, co-facilitator and group development stood out for me and broaden my perception into Social Work as a profession. The first thing that caught my attention this time is that, theories of counseling are also applicable to group counseling. I learned about the theories in my social work practice class last year. This show how important the theories are to me as an emerging social worker.…
