Election Day: the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Every four years, Americans may develop some fear for who the next President of the United States may be. Politicians tend to lie about what they plan to do just, so they can attract voters and become elected. Hopefully some Americans have faith in the President for accomplishing their goals. For instance, George W. Bush and President Barack Obama in both their first term elections, claim that they would improve America with specific plans. Since Obama was elected after the two terms of Bush, one may compare their approaches for America. Some issues that both Bush and President Obama created plans for were improving education, decreasing taxes, and improving foreign policies. …show more content…
Bush was elected as President of the United States in 2000-2008 and Barack Obama as the President of the United States in 2008-2016. Both of them made specific plans on how they were going to improve various issues of the United States. In 2002, Bush “signed the No Child Left behind Act reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and supporting standards-based education reform.” (Rudalevige 1) Bush implemented the $1.3 trillion "Bush tax cuts" which lowered the marginal tax rates for nearly all U.S. taxpayers. Bush had demanded an invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 to overthrow the Taliban, destroy Al-Qaeda, and to capture Osama bin Laden. Most of the time, candidates will exaggerate so they relate to the American people. In this case, George W. Bush and Barack Obama seemed to follow their plans for the issues of improving education, reducing taxes, and improving foreign policy during their presidency. During both of their next terms, their ratings seemed to decline and become less favorable by the people, so perhaps they lied about what their initials plans were.
