George Wilson's Death In The Great Gatsby

Who killed Mr. Jay Gatsby? Some people may say it was George Wilson, but is that really who killed Gatsby? In The Great Gatsby, Tom Buchanan reveals to George Wilson that Gatsby was supposedly the driver of the car that killed Myrtle Wilson, Tom’s mistress. I don’t think George Wilson is the reason Jay Gatsby was shot and killed at his home.
There are quite a few people that could be responsible for the death of Gatsby, one of which is Gatsby himself. Gatsby was self-deceptive, he tried to get in between Daisy and Tom’s marriage. Gatsby tried to get in between their marriage which leads to Tom’s hatred towards Gatsby. Now that Tom has this hatred toward Gatsby he is more than happy to tell George Wilson that it was Mr. Jay Gatsby that was

On page 110 Nick stated “You can’t repeat the past.” “Can’t repeat the past’’ he [Gatsby] cried incredulously. “Why of course you can” (Fitzgerald 110) This shows Gatsby’s foolishness because he thought he could get into Tom and Daisy’s relationship and win Daisy back, even though Daisy had already fell in love with Tom.
Another reason I think Gatsby got himself killed is that even after Daisy broke Gatsby’s heart he was still devoted to winning Daisy back. Gatsby showed he was still devoted to Daisy because when Daisy was driving his car he took the blame for running Myrtle over. This shows just how much Gatsby loves Daisy; he is willing to give his life away just so she can be happy. Gatsby even stays in the bushes behind the Buchanan’s house just to make sure that Tom wasn’t going to hurt Daisy because of what she had said previously to killing his mistress Myrtle.
To conclude, I believe that Mr. Jay Gatsby is responsible for his own death. Gatsby was selfish and reckless in his time trying to win Daisy back. If Gatsby would’ve just moved on with his life, he would have never been killed. But I will say that I admire his passion and relentlessness to be denied what he wants and what makes him happy in life. But, I do think that MR. Gatsby is responsible for his own

Daisy is easily responsible for a lot of things such as Myrtles death, Gatsby’s death, being a gold digger, and many other things. Daisy basically manipulated Gatsby into believing that she was in love with him and then ran off Tom in the end. Any person who has read The Great Gatsby knows that Nick Carraway is at least more moral than Tom, Gatsby and Daisy but that by no means makes him a moral person. While he never truly does anything immoral, he completely lets everyone else do it without saying anything or giving a second thought to it.…

Selfish Love “…just tell him the truth – that you never loved him – and it’s all wiped out forever.” This was a quote from Jay Gatsby pleading Daisy Buchanan to declare that she never loved her husband, Tom Buchanan. In the novel “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, it’s very debatable who the most self-centered character of the story was. It could be Tom, who just used Daisy has a safety net for when his side relationships failed, or it could be Gatsby who wanted Daisy all to himself despite what it would do to her family. In the end, the presence of love creates a selfish person and although all the characters mentioned have been struck by love, Daisy Buchanan has portrayed the most self-centered acts.…

Unfortunately no one interferes so Gatsby was killed and only one person should take the blame for his death. Based upon research and analyzing the situation Gatsby is the one at fault for his own death. It was his life that was taken and he had the most opportunities to prevent his death. Initially this entire situation could have been avoided had it not been for Gatsby’s obsession with Daisy. Although her marriage was not the happiest she had not seen or interacted with Gatsby for five years, and she had probably lost most of her emotions for Gatsby.…

I can also see where some could say that he “died for Daisy’s sins” because he allowed the blame of Myrtle’s death to be put on him.
