Why George Washington's Was Important To US History

George Washington’s was important to U.S history, because of his military leadership and contribution during the Revolutionary War leading into the beginning of the United States. In June 19, 1775 Washington was chosen as General and Commander-In-Chief of the continental army . In order to have a balance they elected George Washington because he had military experience, and will do what he can at his best at no cost. He led the volunteers in its incredible defeat against the most powerful military in the world, Great Britain. I will show his importance by examining the Battle of Trenton, and the Battle of Monmouth.
On May 10, 1775 it was a day where Massachusetts militiamen and mountain boys gathered together to attack on Fort Ticonderoga. It was the first war of the Revolutionary war that America has claimed victory. After America seizing Ticonderoga, the Second Continental Congress now knows that a military response is certain to happen by the British. At the time there was a need for a continental army, the continental congress wanted a national army. That was when Washington was chosen as Commander-in-Chief. After the event of Bunker Hill, the Continental Congress prepared the Olive Branch Petition, it was to King George III to restore reunion between the colonies.
