George Washington was born February 22, 1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Washington was born into the local aristocracy of Colonial Virginia, his family were wealthy planters who owned tobacco plantations. George’s mother Mary Ball Washington was very protective and did not allow him freedom to explore like children his own age did. George’s had two older brothers from his father’s first marriage and five additional siblings born after him.
