She displayed characteristics of a leader in an extremely prominent way, not only guiding those around her, but pushing them past their highest potential. Akilah started with “no textbooks or computers and only a few thousand dollars in the bank (Chittal 2)”, but has grown into an organization that can provide over 3,000 dollars in scholarships and has a “90% job placement” (Chittal 2). None of this would have been possible without the dedication of Elizabeth Dearborn Hughes. She had an idea to help a developing country excel not only in a small group of women, but also causing the entire economy and government to flourish. Without strong leaders like Elizabeth Dearborn Hughes, changes in social, political, economic, and environmental issues would not exist. In my opinion I believe that George Washington was the greatest leader that we have read about so far. In 1754 he had a small fort the he called Fort Necessity and the Native Americans and the French defeated his fort, but he was still considered a hero because he had struck the first blow in the battle. He led his army through the cold winter at one of his most famous accomplishments, Valley Forge during the American Revolutionary War and though many people died of hunger and disease, the rest of his army still went on with him as their leader. Although he was not used to leading a larger group of soldiers, Washington still had such great leadership skills he was able to lead them. He made hard decisions during his time at Valley Forge and…
