George Washington, the first United States Presidents was born on February 22, 1732 in Wakefield, V.A. Georges father was Augustine Washington and his mother was Marry Ball Washington. At age 11 Georges father died so, his mother had to run the plantation they lived on by herself. George was the oldest of 6 children so he was the main child to help out his mother. At age 16 George decided to join the Military. When George joined he joined a surveying party and conducted surveys.
George accomplished many things in his life. George got married to Martha Dandridge Cutis in 1759 which at the time already has two children (www.let.rug.nl 2). In 1788 George was elected President of the United States by the Electoral College. Later he took the Oath of Office at Federal Hall in New York City (www.let.rug.nl 3). Washington was taught in a local private School House and got taught Reading, Writing and Basic Arithmetic (www.mountvernon.org 4). In 1753 the Governor of Virginia sent Washington to deliver a message to the French Troops (www.mountvernon.org 12). In early 1790, Hamilton devised a plan with the approval of Washington in the Residence Act of 1790 (www.wikipedia.com 18). In 1787 Washington ended his self-imposed retirement and traveled to Philadelphia P.A to attend a convention. The convention in Philadelphia took four Months to complete and when the Constitution was approved George began to retire (www.mountvernon.org
