President George W. Bush’s speech starts out explaining the events that had occurred on September 11, 2001. He praised the American people for their great courage and how they came together so well and so patriotically after the events. He tells the audience how we won’t forget the lives lost during the attack nor will we forget the great countries that stood by our side right after. He explained to the audience that they believe the attacks were organized by a terrorist organization called “Al Qaeda”. He explained that their goal was to do evil in the world and that they have brutalized Afghanistan’s people. President Bush then makes a few demands to the Taliban. He states that they should give authority to the U.S. and all the leaders of Al Qaeda who hide in the land. They should release all the unjustly imprisoned American citizens, protect foreign journalist, close up terrorist training camps, and give the U.S. full access to training camps so that the U.S. can close them down. He says the only way to end terror is to stop it where it grows and that terror unanswered can …show more content…
I think that action did need to be taken. I think if we didn’t take action we might appear weak in the eyes of others.
President Bush continues on in the second part of his speech really driving the point of how serious he is about the matter and preparing the audience for what is to come. He states that this war will not be a one battle and done type thing, it would instead be a long and lengthy campaign. It will be like something the U.S. people have never seen. I believe this to be true. This war on terror has went on pretty much as long as I have been alive. If I am being quite honest, I don’t see it coming to an end any time soon. I feel as if there will always be terror in the world. I feel as if there will always be extremist. Extremist that even lie in our own
