George Takei desires Japanese Americans to be given equal treatment and fairness due to the fact that they have been imprisoned and oppressed by their own nation, the United States of America and had to endure discrimination due to the fact that they have Japanese ancestry.

George Takie argues that Japanese Americans should have been respected equally considering that they suffered from prejudice since they had ancestral connections with the individuals that bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He demonstrates this by using the ethos, pathos, and logos.

Imagine being just four years old, born in the city of Los Angeles, the state of California, of Japanese American parents, and having people wrongly think of you as a criminal simply because you are Japanese. By then, Japan had already bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. Despite the fact that you haven't done anything wrong, the whole nation has prejudices against people of your kind, and you must endure discrimination. Even if you're American, being Japanese is hard. Being Japanese means having to go through discrimination; you'll have to be taken from your home and be transferred to a prison camp bordered by fences of barbed wire, where you'll be held for years without being allowed to leave. just because you have a similar resemblance to the individuals who bombed Pearl Harbor.
