Because of his infatuation with soft objects he takes a peculiar interest in Curley's wife, because of this interest he unknowingly kills her causing more problems with Curley. As a result of killing Curley's wife George kills Lennie as an act of mercy killing. I, personally, don’t think George was justified in killing Lennie, but some of the evidence from the text proves otherwise. Most people saw Lennie as a child and not a grown man, which is understandable, and that may be one reason why George wanted to get rid of him. Many times he was called a child or people would say he acted like one. For example, when Lennie brought the puppy in the bunkhouse and George made him take it back, Slim said, “He’s jes’ like a kid, ain’t he.” Lennie was constantly in trouble which made it hard for George to keep a job for long.…

This claim is complete bogus, and here why. As previously stated, George killing lennie would mean much more to both of them, then a person who doesn 't have a bond with neither of them. Also, Curley killing Lennie would result in a greater amount of physical pain to Lennie, because Curley was going to shoot him in the gut, and the pain would be long lasting. While George was going to kill him quickly, which would result in less pain. Therefore, George undoubtedly made the right right decision.…

Because Lennie did bad things which he would of been killed for by other characters, but George decided to shoot Lennie in the head when he was not looking so he did not suffer. That ain't no good, George.” (97). If Lennie was found, Curley had made it clear that he would shoot Lennie’s guts out, because Lennie killed his wife. Even if Curley didn’t end up killing Lennie, he would have ended up going to a detention facility for the mentally ill, or some other place where Lennie would not be deemed dangerous to the outside world. George made the decision himself, based on what Slim told him, and since he knew what was best for Lennie because of their strong friendship.…

George has been taking care of Lennie all his life and he doesn’t want to make the same mistake as candy made by giving Carlson the right to kill his dog. After his dog was dead he was very depressed and he said, “I ought to of shot that dog myself, George I shouldn 't ought to of let no stranger shoot my dog.” This suggests that George didn’t want anyone else to shoot Lennie because Lennie is his responsibility and if any were going to kill Lennie and end his suffering it would be George. Another reason why George kills Lennie is because he didn’t want the person that he hated the most Curley to kill his best friend.
